1 organic apple (Pink Ladies or whatever your favorite might be)
1 lemon wedge
1 tablespoon nut butter of your choice*
1 teaspoon sunflower seeds**
1 teaspoon chocolate chips ***
1. Thoroughly wash the apple. Slice apple lengthwise and core. The slices should look like rings.
2. Squeeze the juice of lemon on apple to keep it from browning. You can skip this step if you plan to eat the sandwich right away.
3. Spread with your choice of nut butter or substitute.
4. Sprinkle the apple with chips and seeds or their substitutes (see below)
5. Enjoy!
*For example, try peanut butter, hazelnut butter or almond butter. Use Safe4School Wowbutter for children with nut and peanut allergies.
**For children with nut or peanut allergies, ensure that the seeds are processed in a nut and peanut-free environment. If not, replace with toasted coconut flakes.
***For children with nut or peanut allergies, ensure that the chocolate chips are made in a nut and peanut-free environment. If not, omit altogether and replace with honey.
